About the Photo:
This photo depicts five wild edible berries from the Fairbanks, Alaska area. The raspberries and high-bush cranberries (translucent looking red berries) were from our back yard. The blueberries, lingenberries (opaque red berries also called low bush cranberries) and crow berries (little black ones) were all from the same wild plot near Fairbanks.
After the berries were harvested (all in one day), they were set one-by-one in my studio and shot with a 4×5 inch view camera and studio strobe lights on Fujichrome Velvia transparency film.
This same “Wild Berries” photographic image was selected for the commemorative and fund raising annual poster for the PBS radio and TV station in Fairbanks (KUAC) in 1995. By the time I was selected for this honor, there was a long list of well known successful artists from all around Alaska who’s paintings were depicted on the previous KUAC posters. I had the additional honor of being the first photographer chosen as the KUAC poster “artist.”
