About The Image:
One of the neatest places on earth is the Maclaren Summit, about 37 miles east of Paxson, Alaska on the Denali Hwy, especially after the first frost when the colors are fully ablaze and the mosquitos have been knocked back. It can be soggy and socked in. It can even snow while you’re camped there. But when the sun comes out the views are spectacular. Even if the sun isn’t shinning, the tundra is as interesting as it gets. We must have camped there a dozen times during our thirty years in Fairbanks.
This image was made with a Canon F-1 camera and Canon macro lens on Kodachrome 25 film. To give an indication of scale, the largest of the green “stars” could be covered by a nickel.
