EXPERIENCE:

6/75 – 6/99:    Cooperative Extension Service, University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Communications Manager, 1/97 – 6/99:
Promoted to this position. Supervised 5 full-time employees, a part-time media technician and numerous students who provide all the production and distribution work for ACE educational programs statewide including publication and web development, radio and television support materials, and computer technology training and troubleshooting.

Editorial Specialist – Electronic Media, 8/82 – 1/97:
Promoted to this position after producing a pilot for an 8-part TV series and securing a $22,000 production grant.

Write, produce, direct, edit and market informational audio and visual materials.  Programs broadcast statewide include:  Thirteen 30-minute TV programs, 41 short TV segments,  40 TV PSAs, over 100 five-minute radio programs and 40 Radio PSAs.  Field producer for 4 national TV news pieces (CNN and PBS).  Produced over 50 non-broadcast video programs and
5 synchronized slide shows.

Hire production crews on contract, develop and work within grant budgets, recruit and supervise volunteers and assistants for media projects. Photograph events for news, publications and displays.  Present workshops and develop training materials for faculty and staff.

Editorial Assistant, 7/79 – 8/82:
Typeset, proofread and did the paste-up work for all publications distributed statewide.  Additional work included editing and designing newsletters and fact sheets, writing radio scripts and news releases and photographing local events.

Personal Secretary, 6/75 – 7/79:
Secretarial work for the State Extension Editor included Mag Card typing and proofreading all CES publications, writing radio spots and news releases, on-camera television work, maintaining a statewide photo file and media library.

Taught faculty and staff to use the statewide computer mail system and taught radio workshops for 4-H and Youth programs.  Worked first year as personal secretary for the State Nutrition Program Coordinator and the State Natural Resources and Land Use Planning Specialist.

12/72 – 3/74:    Color Consultant,  Streater Design, Division of Litton Industries, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Specified colors and materials for commercial applications as member of a creative team with six architectural designers.  Created color and material presentation boards for all company design projects.

10/70 – 11/72:    Warehouse Manager, Maple Island, Inc., Minneapolis, Minn.

Maintained inventory levels of perishable foods at 30 warehouses nationwide.  Duties included purchasing product from independent plants, transferring stock systemwide, advising management on product pricing.  Handled all customer service inquiries for company.  Promoted from a position in Traffic and Government Contract Sales.
